I have Windows XP Pro installed on a single NTFS partition taking up the entire boot drive. Windows XP Pro works fine. I am trying to install System Commander 7 so that I can install other OS's elsewhere. System Commander 7 is supposed to be able to install to and boot from NTFS drives in Windows XP/2000. When I install System Commander 7 in Windows XP Pro, everything goes fine and it says that it installs properly. However, when I reboot my machine, it just boots right back into Windows XP and does not load System Commander. I have tried making sure it is enabled and re-enabling from within Windows XP, and it says System Commander is enabled.
Could it possible have something to do with Windows XP protecting write attempts to it's bootsector/MBR? All help is greatly appreciated.
Concept Of Operating System
Oh yeah, also, I have tried booting to the utility diskette System Commander had me create on installation which is supposed to re-enable System Commander in the even it is somehow disabled/overwritten in the MBR. Upon booting this diskette, I am informed that an installation of System Commander cannot be found.
This, however, is not surprising considering that the boot disk is DOS and DOS cannot read NTFS, which is where System Commander installed itself. Thanks again in advance for any help. This one is really dumbfounding me.
